Udupi, Mar 1: CSI Lombard Memorial (Mission) Hospital hosted RAPCON 2K25 (Regional Allied Health and Paramedical Conference) at LMH Multipurpose Hall LMH campus Udupi on March 1.
The conference was symbolically inaugurated by lighting the lamp.
Prof Dr Vaishali Sreejith, RGUHS Senate member and vice principal M V Shetty College of Allied Health Sciences Mangaluru, addressing the gathering said, “As there is a saying behind every successful men there is a women, in my case I have pack of men who supported me to this success. Conferences are where you meet different types of people, where you can learn, make new friends. I urge students to maximum out of it and utilize it in future. Paramedical students are kind to patients and smiling makes them feel comfortable. Nowadays we have lost human touch due to gadgets, it is your responsibility to make patients comfortable. I assure that under the guidance of Dr Sushil Jathanna the institution will bloom.”
Dr Sushil Jathanna, director Lombard Group of Institutions, Udupi, in his presidential note said, “Today is a great day, as we have the opportunity to meet various students from various colleges. It is a lucky day for me to have an opportunity to meet important eminent people. Being a student is a wonderful experience. We must share and learn from each other, as knowledge is not a monopoly of any institution. Do not underestimate your own capability, because don't forget that a doctor is with a patient only for 15 minutes, it depends on you the health care profession to provide diagnosis. Being a student there are ups and downs, you must take all challenges and overcome them. There is a huge opportunity in India, because health care as a profession is growing. Do not let anyone undermine you. Exams are only stepping stops, what you learn in life is important. Life skills are more important.”
B Shivashankar Pai, principal Niramaya College of AHS Bantakal, said, “There is a lot of scope for allied health and paramedical programs across the globe. After COVID pandemic the demand has increased and there is no age limit as such to learn. Age is not a factor; I am a good example. At the age of 51 I have completed MSE, I advise students to be hardworking and be sincere in whatever you do.
Dr Vidhyadhar Shetty K, managing director Ashrith Trust Kota Udupi, said, “health care is a team profession, no single profession can do it all alone. When doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, paramedical and other healthcare providers work together they can offer better care to patients. Working together helps reduce stress. Team work leads to better outcomes, few mistakes and quick recovery for patients.
Dr Gowri Pabhu, CEO Netrajyothi Institute of Paramedical and AHS Udupi, said, “There is a huge need for Paramedical staff. There is no stigma in paramedical staff, it is as important as doctors or nurses. You deal with patients more than doctors. Opportunities like these conferences will help in developing skills.

The prizes for the winners of the poster presentation competition were distributed on the occasion.
