Karkala, March 1: Amidst the ongoing controversy related to KPCC president D K Shivakumar's soft corner towards the Hindu religious ceremonies, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar has welcomed D K Shivakumar with a grand note to the districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada which Sunil termed as "Fortress of Hindutva".

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president and deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar is set to visit Udupi district on Sunday, March 2 and participate in the religious programmes at Kaup Sri Hosa Marigudi Temple and other party programs in Udupi and Karkala.

Amidst these political developments, a significant statement by BJP leader and sitting MLA V Sunil Kumar has sparked intense discussions in political circles. The former state BJP general secretary and ex-minister took to social media to make a noteworthy remark regarding Shivakumar’s visit.

In his statement, Sunil Kumar extended a warm welcome to D K Shivakumar, highlighting his apparent inclination towards Hindutva. He wrote:

"Despite opposition from Mallikarjun Kharge, you participated in the Kumbh Mela... Despite AICC’s displeasure, you attended the Isha Foundation’s Mahashivratri event... You once declared that you were born a Hindu and will die a Hindu... As the KPCC President and Deputy CM, you now seem to be taking steps towards Hindutva."

Further, he welcomed Shivakumar to the "land of brave warriors and the stronghold of Hindutva—Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts", wishing that his visit would be "fruitful from the perspective of Hindutva and development."
