Mangaluru, Mar 3: District Congress President Harish Kumar has condemned the remarks made by MLA Vedavyas Kamath during a religious event at Shakthinagar on March 2 and alleged an assault on a Congress worker.
The religious event was held following the renovation of the Bhajana Mandir at Shakthinagar, with participation from people of all political affiliations. Kumar emphasized that everyone had contributed collectively to the temple's renovation.

"During the event, MLA Vedavyas Kamath told the organizers that they had invited people who pelt stones at temples and the Bhajana Mandir. His statement led to heated arguments, resulting in the assault of Yashwanth Prabhu," Harish Kumar stated.
Kumar also alleged that corporator Diwakar, along with a group of goons, caused a disturbance at the hospital where Prabhu was admitted.
He revealed that a complaint was filed against those involved in the assault, including MLA Kamath, while a counter-case was also registered against Congress members.
Kumar accused the BJP of still behaving as if they were in power, ignoring the fact that the Congress now governs the state. He criticized Kamath’s statements, claiming they could create divisions between communities.
"The BJP is unsettled by the success of the Congress guarantee schemes, which have drawn public support," he added.
Congress leaders Padmaraj, Dayanand Nayak, Prakash Salian, and others were present during the press meet.
