Mumbai, Mar 4: Acclaimed filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has revealed that she is a strict mother, particularly with her son Czar, compared to her daughters, Anya and Diva.
In a candid conversation with actress Rubina Dilaik on her YouTube show, Farah shared insights into her parenting style and how she navigates raising teenage children in today's world.
Farah, who tied the knot with editor-director Shirish Kunder in 2004, gave birth to her triplets—Czar, Diva, and Anya—in 2008 via in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Now at 17, her children are preparing to step into college next year.
Despite their age, Farah proudly shared that her kids remain focused on their studies. "They are 17 going on 12," she quipped, adding, "They had their birthday recently and they just wanted to have a family dinner with us. They didn’t want to go to a club and party."
She further revealed that her daughters have never been to a club and are yet to explore makeup or grooming routines such as getting their eyebrows done, as they remain engrossed in their studies.
When Rubina, a new mother to twin daughters, asked if she had consciously kept her children away from certain exposures, Farah clarified, "No, I am just a strict mom. They cannot go wherever they want without me tracking them."
However, she ensures a balance between discipline and open communication. "In the evening, we have a gossip chat. That way, I get to know what’s happening in their lives. I am Farah admitted that she is particularly stricter with her son, Czar, than with her daughters. "I have to explain things to him more than I do to the girls," she said.
She emphasised the importance of teaching her son about respecting women. "I explain to him how he has to talk to girls, what he cannot say, and how his friends cannot talk about his sisters in a certain way. If they talk about girls in a disrespectful manner, he should not be a part of that conversation," she shared.
With her children on the verge of adulthood, Farah continues to uphold her values of discipline, respect, and family bonding while preparing them for the real world.
