Mangaluru, Mar 5: More than 40 inmates of Mangaluru jail fell ill due to suspected food poisoning and were admitted to Wenlock Hospital.

After lunch, 45 inmates experienced stomach pain, vomiting, and discomfort.

Some others have experienced both vomiting and diarrhea and have collapsed due to dizziness. The exact cause of the food poisoning is yet to be determined, but there is suspicion that either the water or the consumed food may have been contaminated with toxic substances. At around 3:30 pm, they were taken to the hospital under tight security.

Police commissioner Anupam Agrawal visited the hospital and stated that food samples had been sent for testing and that a probe would be conducted.

some of them may not return to jail from the hospital ... some of them may return with good stock of liquor, cigarettes, ganja etc. for their use in the jail ... they might plan or execute escape or other crime plans in the hospital ... why not call doctors and give medicines in the jail itself ...
