Bantwal, Mar 8: In a daring daylight robbery, thieves broke into a house near Urimajalu on the Kabaka-Vittal Road and made away with gold ornaments weighing 60 grams.

The burglary took place at the residence of Ganesh Gowda, located near the road leading to the temple. The Vittal police have registered a case in this regard.

The family, who run a grocery store near the Urimajalu petrol pump, left home in the morning on Friday. Usually, they would carry their gold ornaments with them whenever they went to the shop, but on this occasion, they left them at home.

The thieves broke the front door lock, entered the house, and ransacked the place, scattering belongings in their search. Despite the gold being securely hidden under clothes, the thieves managed to find and steal it.

The police were immediately informed of the incident. The canine squad and fingerprint experts visited the scene, and an investigation is underway.
