Mandhana reflects on RCB’s struggles as UP Warriorz seal 12-run win

Lucknow, Mar 9: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Smriti Mandhana admitted that her team’s inconsistent performance in the last five games derailed their WPL 2025 campaign, as they finished at the bottom of the table.

After UP Warriorz posted a massive 225/5, powered by Georgia Voll’s unbeaten 99 and Kiran Navgire’s explosive 46 off 16 balls, RCB fell short by 12 runs despite Richa Ghosh’s valiant 69 off 33 and Sneh Rana’s late fireworks.

Mandhana acknowledged UPW’s aggressive batting approach and credited Voll’s match-winning knock. “They batted positively from ball one. We pulled things back in the last three overs, but credit to Voll,” she said.

Reflecting on RCB’s struggles, she pointed to the loss of their top three wicket-takers from last season and the inability to capitalize on key moments. “We started well but couldn’t maintain momentum. We played good cricket in patches but lost crucial moments,” she admitted.

Meanwhile, UP Warriorz captain Deepti Sharma praised her team’s all-round effort, though she expressed disappointment at missing out on the playoffs. “T20 games are always close, and we knew RCB would fight back. Everyone contributed today, and we played the way we always wanted to,” she said.
