Bengaluru, Mar 12: The Karnataka government has ordered a CID probe into alleged lapses by the police in a high-profile gold smuggling case. The decision comes amid mounting concerns over procedural violations and possible collusion within the department.

According to sources, the case involves the smuggling of a significant quantity of gold, with authorities suspecting an organized network operating across state borders. Reports indicate that crucial evidence may have been overlooked, prompting the government to initiate a deeper investigation.

Home Minister stated that the CID has been directed to conduct a thorough probe and submit a detailed report at the earliest. "Any official found guilty of negligence or misconduct will face strict action," he assured.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders have demanded transparency in the investigation, alleging that vested interests may have influenced the case. The government, however, maintains that the probe will be fair and impartial.
