Mumbai, Mar 21: Thunderous applause and the sound of music and songs reverberated through Prabodhan Thackeray Hall as St Lawrence High School, Borivali, celebrated Graduation Day on February 13. The event marked the transition of Montessori students to grade I, with hundreds of parents, children, and esteemed guests in attendance.
Graduation Day, the most coveted event of the academic year for both the children and their parents, was a symphony of cultural extravaganza aligned with the theme: ‘Roots to grow, wings to fly.’ This event included not only the graduation ceremony but also the felicitation of outstanding achievers and the crowning of Xavier's Princes and Princesses for the year 2024-25.

The celebration began with an invocation prayer and the recital of verses from holy scripture. Guests and parents were overwhelmed as they were welcomed by the children of grade I, who delivered welcome speeches in various languages with great flourish and finesse. The lyrical welcome song performed by the tiny tots, accompanied by a colourful dance, touched everyone's hearts. Following the trend-setting convention of the St Xavier's Group of Institutions, distinguished guests were welcomed with potted plants.
Complementing the theme of the celebration, the tiny tots performed dances highlighting women empowerment and cultural diversity. The mesmerizing performance of the school orchestra and the musical play "Croak" were indeed a musical treat for the audience.
Video presentations showcased the educational experiences offered at the Ryan Group of Schools, the successes of Ryan alumni in sports at national and international levels, and the Ryan Climate Champions, all of which were received with great appreciation.
Students from both the primary and secondary sections were also felicitated with certificates and medals for their exemplary achievements in academics, science, sports, music, dance, oratory, singing, reading, and computer science by distinguished guests hailing from various walks of life.
Doris Rawal, head of the quality assurance team at the Ryan Group of Schools; Niranjan Gupta of the Indian Navy; Rajkumar of the Indian coast guard; Madhura Pathare, CEO of Drishti; Ojas Adhiya, musician; Helen Fonseca, actress and member of CWC; Ravindra Yadav, Shell Explorer operational manager; Dr Shilly Dhiman, embryologist; Rahul Bamane, senior copywriter; Dr Neil Gandhi, music composer and producer; Abhishek Mishra, music composer; Vinod Sharma, writer and director; Dr Vaishali Malde, cosmetologist; Kishu Sharma, actress; along with Amruta Shinde, manager at the learning links foundation, graced the occasion, making Graduation Day a memorable one.
The crowning of Xavier's Princes and Princesses for the year 2024-25 was met with the loudest rounds of applause.
Veena Almeida, the headmistress of the school, thanked the honourable founder-chairman of the Ryan and St Xavier's Groups of Schools, Dr A F Pinto, and the managing director, madam Dr. Grace Pinto, along with all the parents, teachers, and students, for the successful celebration of Graduation Day. She renewed the school's commitment to nurturing the talents of every child and offering each student a holistic education. The closing chorus, accompanied by the lively music of the school orchestra, provided a fitting finale to this grand annual event.
