Mumbai, Mar 23: Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty's legal team has welcomed the CBI’s closure report in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, stating that it reaffirms faith in the judiciary while condemning the ‘false narrative’ peddled on social media.
The CBI, in its report filed on Saturday, ruled out any foul play in Sushant’s tragic death and granted a clean chit to Rhea Chakraborty and her family.

Reacting to the development, Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde issued a statement expressing gratitude to the CBI for a comprehensive investigation. "The false narrative spread on social and electronic media was uncalled for. Innocent people were vilified and paraded before the media and authorities. I hope such a witch-hunt never repeats," he said.
Highlighting Rhea's ordeal, Maneshinde recalled how she was jailed for 27 days despite having no fault. "I salute Rhea and her family for enduring the inhuman treatment meted out to them. I urge media leaders to reflect on their actions," he added.
He further revealed that his legal team, along with Rhea’s family, faced constant threats but remained undeterred. "I am proud to have defended a Fauji family pro bono. The speculation over my fees should now rest," he asserted.
Thanking a section of the media for supporting Rhea’s fight for justice, he emphasized that India's judiciary remains a beacon of hope for those seeking fairness.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020.
