Woman arrested for drowning dog at Orlando Airport after flight denial

Orlando, Mar 23: In a shocking case of animal cruelty, a Louisiana woman has been arrested for allegedly drowning her dog in an airport restroom after being denied permission to take the pet on an international flight due to improper paperwork.

The woman, a resident of Kenner, Louisiana, was taken into custody in Lake County and charged with aggravated animal abuse, a third-degree felony. She was later released on a $5,000 bond.

The horrifying incident, which occurred in December, came to light when a janitor at Orlando International Airport found the 9-year-old miniature schnauzer, Tywinn, inside a trash bag in a restroom stall. Surveillance footage showed the woman entering the restroom with the dog and emerging alone 20 minutes later before boarding a flight to Bogotá, Colombia.

Authorities confirmed through a necropsy that the dog had been deliberately drowned. The woman, who lacked the required veterinary health certificate and rabies vaccination for international travel, later continued her journey to Ecuador.

Orlando Police called the act "intentional and cruel," sparking widespread outrage from animal welfare groups. If convicted, the woman faces severe legal consequences under Florida’s animal cruelty laws.
