Washington, Mar 27: US president Donald Trump has drawn a comparison between India's Aadhaar-EPIC (Voter ID) linkage system and what he described as a lax voter identification process in the United States.
Addressing a rally, Trump praised India's approach to linking voter IDs with Aadhaar, emphasizing that such a system enhances electoral integrity and prevents fraud. He questioned why the US, despite being a global power, lacks a similarly robust voter identification mechanism.

“In India, they have a system where voter IDs are linked to national identity, making elections more secure. But here, they want elections with no proper verification,” Trump said, reiterating his long-standing demand for stricter voter ID laws in the US.
The Aadhaar-EPIC linkage in India aims to eliminate duplicate and fake voters while streamlining electoral rolls. Meanwhile, Trump's remarks have reignited debates in the US over voting rights, with critics arguing that stringent ID laws could disenfranchise certain voter groups.
His statements come ahead of the upcoming US elections, where voter ID laws remain a contentious political issue.
