St Aloysius University holds national seminar ‘SAMPRATHI 2025’

Mangaluru, Mar 27: The department of postgraduate studies and research in social work, St Aloysius Deemed to be University organized a one-day national seminar ‘SAMPRATHI 2025’ on the theme ‘Building inclusive societies: Social management strategies for sustainable development’ on March 25 in L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block.

Dr Sanjay Paswan, former central minister, ministry of HRD and professor of management, Patna University, Bihar was the chief guest. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, vice chancellor presided over the programme. Dr Alwyn D’Sa, registrar of the college, Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar of the University, Dr Loveena Lobo, director of Maffei Block, Dr Shwetha Rasquinha, HOD of PG social work and Vinola Pinto, student coordinator of SAMPRATHI 2025 was on the dais.

The president of the programme, Dr Praveen Martis, in his presidential remarks, stressed on five special ways of learning those were - learning to know; learning to do; learning to live together; learning to be and learning to transform oneself and society; which summarizes the importance of inclusivity that foster sustainability.

Chief guest, Dr Sanjay Paswan in his speech gave an overview and a critical perspective regarding social exclusion and need for social inclusion to promote sustainable development. He touched on every dimension of life to put forward on the review of the perspective.

There were 45 paper presentations from the participants from various colleges.

The first plenary session was held by Dr Pramanshi Jajadeva, professor in history, Pataliputra University, Bihar on the topic inclusive leadership for sustainable development. She focused on how inclusive leadership can have an impact on people’s lives. Her presentation was focused on how inclusive leadership impacted people’s related to their historical context.

Post lunch we had secondary plenary session on the topic social entrepreneurship, which was conducted by Dr Poornima Venkat by engaging participants through group activities and having an interactive discussion she completely helped. The participants understand the significance of social entrepreneurship, and how it helps in building inclusive societies.

Dr Shwetha Rasquinha welcomed the gathering. Dr Loveena Lobo briefed about the seminar. Vinola Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.

The valedictory programme was held in the evening. Dr Farita Viegas, dean, school of education, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) was the chief guest. Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), presided over the programme.
