Media Release

Moodbidri, Mar 31: As part of the Jubilee 2025 celebrations,’ Keerthanachi Bhaktik Saanz', a devotional psalms singing programme, was held at Corpus Christi Church. The event was organized with the cooperation of St Mathew Deanery, Moodbidri.

The programme commenced with an introduction by Fr Dr Ronald Serrao, rector of St Joseph Inter-Diocesan Seminary, Jeppu. He highlighted the significance of psalms in liturgical services and emphasized that Jesus, as a Jew, must have prayed with psalms, just as other Jews did.

Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza, parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Succor Church, Gatalkatte, coordinated the event. Choir groups from fourteen parishes of the deanery participated, each presenting two psalms. Sheavon Serrao provided musical accompaniment on the keyboard throughout the session.

Before each psalm, Fr Deepak Noronha and Fr Melwyn D’Souza introduced its meaning and led prayers for the people’s intentions. The event concluded with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and benediction, conducted by Fr Dr Ronald Serrao.

Several priests, including Fr Vincent D’Souza (Sampige parish), Fr Noel Mascarenhas (Saverapura parish), Fr Gregory D’Souza (Hospet parish), Fr Melwyn Noronha (Alangar parish), Fr Kiran Pinto (Vamadapadav parish), and Fr Rohan Lobo (Taccode parish), were present for the occasion.

Fr Onil D’Souza, dean of the deanery, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the programme. Approximately 250 people from Moodbidri and surrounding areas gathered to witness and meditate on the psalms, experiencing a sense of spiritual renewal in the Lenten season.

The event concluded with refreshments served to all attendees, marking a spiritually enriching evening for the faithful.
