Los Angeles, Apr 1: Hollywood star Paul Giamatti has admitted to having a secret Instagram account but has firmly ruled out joining TikTok, calling the platform’s endless loop “strange and troubling.”

Speaking to Radio Times, The Holdovers actor revealed that while he dabbles in social media, he prefers to stay under the radar. “I am on Instagram, although only my friends know it’s me,” he shared.

However, when it comes to TikTok, the 57-year-old actor remains wary. “My girlfriend is heavily into TikTok, but I don’t want to engage in that. That endless scroll and loop is terrifying. The second that you’re confronted with algorithms and nudges, you feel coerced,” he explained.

Giamatti is set to star in Black Mirror’s new season on Netflix, featuring alongside Peter Capaldi, Rashida Jones, and Chris O’Dowd. His episode, Eulogy, revolves around a futuristic system that allows people to step inside old photographs, evoking deep emotions.

Interestingly, the actor confessed that he isn’t nostalgic and regrets not holding onto mementos. “I’m not a big nostalgia guy and I don’t have a ton of photos. I regret that now,” he admitted.

Black Mirror returns on April 10 with six new episodes, with creator Charlie Brooker teasing a mix of sci-fi and unsettling content. For the first time, the series will also feature a sequel to a previous episode. “Normally, I kill off all the characters, but I kept some alive this time—I’m growing as a human,” Brooker joked.
