Mumbai, Apr 2: Rising Indian cricket star Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to part ways with Mumbai and join Goa for the next domestic season. The talented batter has reportedly written to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), seeking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the switch.

Jaiswal follows in the footsteps of Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, who also shifted from Mumbai to Goa in recent years. Goa Cricket Association (GCA) secretary Shamba Desai confirmed the move, stating, "He wants to play for us, and we welcome him. He will be playing from the next season."

The young cricketer recently represented Mumbai in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy after a disappointing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. With BCCI mandating domestic red-ball participation for Team India stars, Jaiswal, along with stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, returned to their respective state teams.

In Goa, Jaiswal could take on a leadership role. When asked if he was a captaincy contender, Desai said, "Yes, that can happen. He plays for India, so we will work towards appointing him."

Meanwhile, Jaiswal has struggled in the ongoing IPL 2025 for Rajasthan Royals, managing only 34 runs in three matches at an average of 11.33. His powerplay struggles continue, with an early dismissal rate of 44% in the first three overs, a jump from 29% in IPL 2022-23.

Though Jaiswal had an underwhelming IPL 2024 campaign with 435 runs at an average of 31.07, his attacking intent has also declined, with his shot percentage dropping to 70% over the last two seasons.

As he gears up for a fresh start with Goa, Jaiswal will be eager to regain his form and make a strong statement in the domestic circuit.
