NMPA Staff Association applauds chairman Dr A V Ramana for remarkable achievements

Media Release

Mangaluru, Apr 2: The New Mangalore Port Staff Association, affiliated with the All India Port & Dock Workers Federation (HMS), has applauded New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) chairman Dr A V Ramana for achieving an impressive throughput of 46 million tonnes in 2024-25.

The association also commended the teamwork led by the chairman, along with the cooperation of officers and employees, despite significant challenges, including the closure of ghat roads and delays in dredging work. These factors resulted in a shortfall of 5 million tonnes, preventing the port from surpassing the 51-million-tonne mark in cargo handling.

The union praised Dr Ramana’s foresight, operational excellence, and ability to mobilize the workforce for optimal performance. His dedication and hard work have significantly contributed to the port's growth, thereby strengthening the nation’s economy. Additionally, the association lauded his efforts in implementing the long-pending Fishing Harbour Project and removing obstacles to ensure its smooth progress for the benefit of local communities.

The chairman was also appreciated for overseeing the rapid construction of the port’s hospital building. The union expressed hope that the facility would be inaugurated as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, providing essential medical services to residents of Mangaluru and its surrounding areas.

The association assured its full support to the chairman for the port’s continued development as it approaches its Golden Jubilee and urged him to recognize the contributions of officers and employees by suitably rewarding them on this special occasion.
