Washington, Apr 3: A 31-year-old Indian national, Sai Kumar Kurremula, residing in Edmond, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting multiple children and transporting child pornography. Kurremula, who was living in the US on an immigrant visa, used a social media application to pose as a teenager, gaining the trust of his young victims. He subsequently threatened and extorted them using child pornography when they refused his demands.
US Attorney Robert Troester announced the sentence, stating that Kurremula will serve 420 months in federal prison for the sexual exploitation of three children and the transportation of child pornography. Upon completion of his prison term, he will face a lifetime of supervised release.

US District Judge Charles Goodwin, who presided over the case, emphasized the severity of the offenses, highlighting the vulnerability of the victims and the lasting trauma inflicted upon them and their families. Judge Goodwin stated that the lengthy sentence reflected the profound impact of Kurremula's actions.
Kurremula was initially charged in April of the previous year with sexual exploitation of children and transportation of child pornography. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) initiated an investigation in October 2023, tracing a social media account involved in the sexual exploitation of minor girls to Kurremula's Internet Protocol address.
