Udupi, Apr 5: Various Muslim organisations unanimously condemned the Waqf Amendment Act passed by the central government in a meeting held in Udupi on Friday under the leadership of the Udupi District Muslim Okkuta. A coordination committee in this regard has been formed and are ready to fight to get the act withdrawn.
Under the leadership of the coordination committee, Udupi District United Sunni Jamaat, Jamaat E Islami Hind, Karnataka Muslim Jamaat, Jamaat E Ahle Hadith, Social Democratic Party of India, Welfare Party of India, Tablighi Jamaat, Congress Udupi District Minority Division, Jamiatul Falah Udupi, SIO, SSF, Udupi District Sunni Hanafi Committee, Muslim Bandhavya Vedike, Namma Nada Okkuta, APCR, Solidarity Movement organisations have joined hands in this struggle.

In the meeting held under the chairmanship of the Udupi district Muslim Okkuta president Mohammad Maula, office-bearers of various organisations expressed their views. In order to create awareness and public awareness about this act, an information workshop should be organised at the level of every Jamaat in Udupi district. Along with that, the propaganda and misinformation about Waqf property should be given a correct answer. Not only the Muslim community but also all the secular-minded communities should be included in this struggle and taken forward. The views expressed in the meeting were that a legal struggle should also be taken up.
In this context, a unanimous decision was made in the meeting to form a coordination committee comprising all the organisations to prepare for the struggle against this dark law. Leaders of various organisations were appointed for it. It was further decided in the meeting to convene a meeting of the committee and elect the coordinators and office bearers.
"The Waqf Amendment Bill brought by the Modi government is a bill that is against the basic intentions of our country's Constitution. This is an attempt to illegally seize Waqf land in the name of protecting Waqf properties and bringing transparency in Waqf administration. The BJP, Sangh Parivar and their IT cell first conduct a systematic propaganda campaign against Muslims and Waqf land. They spread blatant lies about Waqf properties. Through this, they create a false narrative against Muslims and Waqf in the society and the country. After that, they bring such an anti-constitutional, anti-secular principles bill in Parliament and pass it. For that, they also get the support of so-called secular parties and expose their capital. This is nothing but a plan to further target the Muslim community, which is already marginalised by the hate politics of the Modi government and the Sangh Parivar, portray them as 'foreigners', and encroach on their waqf properties. It is ironic that Prime Minister Modi, who speaks at international forums that there is no religious discrimination in our government, has included blatant discriminatory policies in the Waqf Bill. The Waqf Bill has once again proven that the Modi government says one thing about Muslims and does the opposite. If the Prime Minister really cares about the Muslim community as he says in his speeches, he should review this Waqf Amendment Act and return it to the government for review without signing the said Act," urged Mohammed Maula, president Udupi district Muslim Okkuta.
In the meeting Udupi District United Sunni Jamaat president Abubakar Nejaru, Union District general secretary Ismail Hussain, former president Yasin Malpe, leaders of various organizations Asif Koteshwar, Abdurrahman Calcutta, Suban Honnala, Sharafuddin Kapu, Mansoor Uppinkote, Rafiq Gangolli, Abdul Aziz Manipal, Idrees Hoode, Abdul Aziz Udyavara, Salahuddin Abdullah, Shabi Ahmed Qazi, Hussain Kodibengre and others were present.
Yaseen Kodibengre compered the programme.
