Bantwal, Apr 5: The 118th birth anniversary of Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram, the pioneer of the green revolution and former deputy prime minister, was celebrated on Saturday, April 5, at the Taluk Panchayat Hall on B C Road, Bantwal. The event was jointly organised by the taluk administration, taluk panchayat, and Bantwal Municipal Council.
The programme was presided over by taluk tahsildar Archana Bhat, who, in her address, highlighted Dr Jagjivan Ram's significant contributions to society. She remarked, "Dr Jagjivan Ram fought with great determination for the upliftment of the downtrodden, and through his efforts, he succeeded in bringing about much-needed social and economic progress." She emphasised that Dr Ram’s work was instrumental in creating a better society for all, particularly for the marginalised.

On the occasion, the stage was graced by Municipal Council president Vasu Poojari, Bood president Baby Kunder, chairperson of the Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority Jayanti S Poojari, taluk panchayat EO Sachin Kumar, social welfare department officer Lakshmi, and K Bhumika Shetty.
The event was a fitting tribute to Dr Jagjivan Ram’s tireless work for social justice and equality, reminding everyone of his legacy in ensuring progress and equality for all sections of society, especially the underprivileged.
