Mumbai, Apr 6: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that no major changes are expected in Mumbai’s weather this week, with the city currently witnessing clear skies and warm temperatures.
Daytime temperatures are likely to hover between 36°C and 37°C, while nights will remain relatively warm at around 26°C to 27°C. However, weather conditions may shift from April 10 onward, bringing a slight dip in temperature and the possibility of light showers.
“From April 10, the sky may turn partly cloudy with light rain expected in isolated areas,” an IMD official said. The maximum temperature could ease to 34°C, while the minimum may drop to 24°C, providing some relief from the ongoing heatwave.
Meanwhile, on Friday evening, residents across Mumbai and Thane were taken by surprise as a sudden dust storm swept through the region. Strong gusts of wind carried thick clouds of dust, leading to reduced visibility and traffic disruptions across major roads and railway lines.
Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) was flooded with visuals of the storm, with users sharing clips of low-visibility roads, choked traffic, and poor air quality. Several Mumbaikars also complained of breathing difficulties due to the dusty air.
Following the storm, parts of the city experienced brief thunderstorms and rainfall, adding to the evening chaos. The weather department later confirmed that partly cloudy skies and occasional moderate rain or thunderstorms could continue in isolated pockets.
In the coming days, the city may see a maximum temperature of up to 38°C, with the minimum dipping to 21°C in certain areas. The IMD has urged citizens to stay cautious and keep an eye on official weather advisories for timely updates.
