Chennai, Apr 7: The production of director P S Mithran's highly anticipated spy thriller, 'Sardar 2', starring Karthi in the lead role, has reached a significant milestone, completing its 100th day of filming today. Sources close to the production team indicate that the movie is now on the verge of being fully shot.
George C Williams, the film's cinematographer, celebrated the occasion by sharing an engaging behind-the-scenes image on his Instagram account. The picture captured Williams himself filming director P S Mithran, accompanied by the caption, "Directoring the director. Handheld filming. 100th day shoot #sardar2".

Earlier, in an exclusive interview with IANS, director P S Mithran had revealed that only a small fraction, approximately five to ten percent, of the film's shooting remained. He also confirmed that the dubbing process for the movie was progressing concurrently with the filming. "Only another five to 10 per cent of the film is left. Yes, dubbing is also happening simultaneously," Mithran had stated during the prologue launch event.
The recently unveiled prologue offered a glimpse into the film's action, showcasing Karthi engaged in a dynamic fight sequence wielding a Japanese Katana sword. When questioned about the setting of this scene, Mithran clarified that it takes place in China. He also noted Karthi's prior sword-fighting experience from his work in Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan', stating that the actor required only "minor tips and minimal training" for the 'Sardar 2' fight sequences.
Addressing the narrative progression, Mithran confirmed that while the initial promotional material for the sequel suggested a Cambodian setting for Karthi's spy character, the story will first unfold in Cambodia before transitioning to China.
The prologue also revealed S J Suryah as the primary antagonist, whose character is ominously named Black Dagger.
'Sardar 2' boasts a talented ensemble cast including Karthi, S J Suryah, and Rajisha Vijayan, alongside Malavika Mohanan, Aashika Rangnath, and Sajal Ahmed.
On the technical front, the film features cinematography by George Williams, musical score by Sam C S, editing by Ruben, and art direction by K Kadhir. The high-octane stunts are choreographed by Dhilip Subbarayan, and the compelling story for the sequel is penned by M R Pon Parthipan, Roju Bipin Ragu, and Geevee.
