Udupi, April 7: The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to various undergraduate professional courses in the state will be held on April 16 and 17.
Udupi Deputy Commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari has directed officials to ensure that the examination is conducted in a smooth, fair, and transparent manner, with no lapses in the process.
Chairing a preparatory meeting at the DC Office complex in Manipal today, Dr.Vidyakumari reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming CET 2025.

This year, the CET will be held at 23 examination centres across Udupi district, with a total of 8,089 students expected to appear. The exam will be conducted in 12 centres in Udupi, 5 in Karkala, and 6 in Kundapura. The DC emphasised the need for responsible conduct at all centres to avoid any confusion or disorder for students.
Dr Vidyakumari instructed that the question papers be securely stored in the district treasury under proper police protection, with CCTV surveillance installed in the treasury.
A three-member committee comprising tahsildars, block education officers, and principals will be tasked with distributing the question papers to the centres on time under police escort.
Students attending the CET are prohibited from carrying watches, mobile phones, any electronic devices, or wearing jewellery inside the exam centres. They must report to the centres well in advance and bring their exam hall ticket along with a valid photo ID such as a college ID card, bus pass, driving licence, passport, Aadhaar card, PAN card, or any other ID approved by the exam authority.
Officials assigned to exam duties must be present without fail and are not to be replaced without authorisation. All staff are to work in coordination to ensure the CET is conducted smoothly and efficiently without any disruption.
Observers and room supervisors will be deployed at every exam centre. CCTV cameras must be installed in every exam room. A 200-metre perimeter around each exam centre will be declared a restricted zone, with adequate police protection to be ensured. Additionally, the health department has been directed to assign health assistants to all centres as a precaution.
Every exam room must be equipped with a clock, and due to the summer season, arrangements for drinking water must be made. MESCOM officials have been asked to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the exam hours.
The meeting was attended by district panchayat CEO Prateek Boyle, deputy secretary Srinivas Rao, PU Education Department deputy director Maruti, college principals, and officials assigned to exam duties.
