Bengaluru, Apr 8: In yet another tragic incident underscoring rising stress and emotional turmoil linked to family disputes, a 40-year-old software professional allegedly died by suicide in Bengaluru after reportedly being unable to cope with separation from his wife and child.
The deceased has been identified as Prashant Nair, a resident of DX Smart Nest Apartment, Ganigarahalli near Chikkanabavara. Police sources said that Prashant, who was employed with Lenovo, had been living alone for the past two years following a domestic dispute and subsequent separation from his wife, Pooja Nair.

The couple had been married for around 12 years and shared an eight-year-old daughter. They lived in Hennur before differences began to surface. Family sources said the couple had filed for a mutual divorce and were in the midst of legal proceedings. Over the last year, frequent quarrels over minor issues reportedly strained their relationship further.
According to police, Prashant allegedly took the extreme step by hanging himself using a curtain in the room he was staying in. His family has stated that they do not suspect any foul play in his death.
The Sadduguntepalya police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation.
This incident is the latest in a series of suicides reported from Bengaluru involving tech professionals and law enforcement personnel facing domestic discord. Just last Thursday, a man reportedly set himself ablaze in front of his estranged wife's residence in Nagarbhavi after failing to persuade her to withdraw a divorce petition.
Earlier, the city was rocked by the sensational case of techie Atul Subhash, who allegedly ended his life following reported harassment and a demand of Rs 3 cr for a divorce settlement by his wife Nikita Singhania. The incident sparked widespread public outrage and debate.
On December 14, 2024, a police officer in the city also died by suicide, allegedly due to emotional abuse and pressure from his spouse and in-laws.
These incidents have raised concern over the emotional well-being of individuals undergoing marital disputes, prompting calls for greater awareness and support systems to address mental health and family-related stress.
