Manchester, Apr 8: English football giants Manchester United have officially announced their return to Asia for a post-season tour following the conclusion of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
The Red Devils will travel to Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong for two exhibition fixtures after their final league clash against Aston Villa on May 25. The Asian leg of the tour kicks off just three days later.
United will face an ASEAN All Stars team at the iconic Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on May 28, followed by a match in Hong Kong Stadium against a local Hong Kong XI on May 30. This marks United's first post-season tour in the club’s modern era, and their return to Asia since defeating Liverpool in Bangkok in 2022.
Their last visits to the two cities were over a decade ago 2009 in Kuala Lumpur and 2013 in Hong Kong yet fan support across Asia has remained unwavering.
Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada highlighted the strategic importance of the tour, stating, “We are delighted to deliver a schedule that provides our fans in Asia, Scandinavia, and the US the opportunity to connect with the club live.”
He added that such tours also “drive significant additional revenue,” helping to strengthen the club both financially and competitively. Berrada further noted the commercial benefits, saying the tour will provide a unique platform for collaboration with the club's partners.
