Netravali, Apr 8: Heavy pre-monsoon showers accompanied by gusty winds wreaked havoc in the remote wards of Vichundrem, Kurpem, and surrounding areas in Netravali village on Monday evening, causing widespread disruption to normal life.
Several roadside trees were uprooted due to the strong winds, leading to road blockades that brought vehicular movement to a standstill. The affected roads remained inaccessible for hours, prompting swift action from local authorities.
The village also faced power outages, with the electricity department working diligently to restore supply to the affected areas. Despite the chaos, there were no reports of injuries or major damage to private or public property.
Taking note of the situation, Netravali Sarpanch Bunda Varak acted swiftly by mobilising local youth and teams from the Fire and Emergency Services. Their joint efforts led to the successful clearing of debris and restoration of traffic movement, bringing relief to the residents.
The incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability of remote villages to seasonal weather changes and the importance of preparedness and community response in managing such emergencies.
