Los Angeles, Apr 10: Tom Hiddleston is all set to reprise his iconic role as Loki in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday. In a recent interview with ComicBook, the actor expressed his excitement about returning to the franchise and working once again with the Russo Brothers, the visionary directors behind some of Marvel's most successful films.
“(I’m) very, very excited,” said Hiddleston, hinting at what lies ahead for the God of Mischief. “It’s really remarkable that I can talk about it because mostly I’m in a position of knowing and not being able to say anything. It’s been an extraordinary chapter of my life playing Loki, and it’s not over yet.”
Hiddleston’s journey as Loki began with Thor in 2011 and continued through several major MCU films including The Avengers (2012), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023).
He joins a star-studded lineup of returning characters for Avengers: Doomsday, set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. The cast features Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier), and Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), among others.
The film will also mark the official integration of the X-Men universe into the MCU, with iconic stars like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) making their Marvel return.
Following Doomsday, Marvel is set to release Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. Fans can also look forward to two major releases in 2025: The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25 and Thunderbolts on May 2.
