Puttur: Attempted ATM theft in Kalleri - One arrested

Puttur, Apr 11: In a case of attempted theft, Uppinangady police have arrested a man who allegedly broke into a private ATM centre in Kalleri, Karaya village, near Uppinangady. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Rafiq (35).

Rafiq is accused of entering the premises of a private company’s ATM—operated under the name India One—located in the building of Thanneerupanta Agricultural Cooperative Society in Kalleri. He allegedly dismantled the CCTV camera and attempted to steal cash from the ATM machine.

Originally a resident of Kajur, the accused was staying at his wife’s house in Kuppett. He was arrested from there by the Uppinangady police.
