Mumbai, Apr 11: Actress Monika Panwar, known for her gripping performances, is set to delve into uncharted territory with the upcoming horror-thriller series ‘Khauf’, which premieres on April 18 on Prime Video. Unveiling the chilling trailer on Friday, the creators teased an eerie and unsettling world, with Monika leading the narrative as the haunted protagonist.
The eight-part supernatural drama, directed by Pankaj Kumar and Surya Balakrishnan, features a stellar ensemble including Rajat Kapoor, Abhishek Chauhan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, and Shilpa Shukla. Produced by Matchbox Shots and written by Smita Singh, the series promises a psychological dive into fear, trauma, and the unknown.
Speaking about her role, Monika Panwar shared, “Playing Madhu has been both an interesting and intense experience, offering me a wide range of emotions and challenges to dive into. She’s a character who gradually unravels as she faces the inexplicable horrors surrounding her.”
The story follows Madhu, a young woman seeking a fresh start in a new hostel room, only to find herself at the heart of a sinister presence. As strange warnings and eerie events mount, a shaman arrives with promises to exorcise the darkness—but survival, it seems, depends on revealing buried truths before it’s too late.
Monika credited Matchbox Shots for meticulously crafting the series’ haunting ambiance. “Everything in Khauf is designed to draw the audience deep into its unsettling world—from the visuals to the silences,” she said.
Director Pankaj Kumar described the making of ‘Khauf’ as a creatively fulfilling journey. “This series is more than just suspense—it’s a dive into deep psychological horror. We wanted to create something that lingers, something that lives in the silence and shadows, in the things left unsaid,” he stated.
Co-director Surya Balakrishnan added, “Khauf is about fear in its purest form. The fear of the unknown, the loss of control—every frame, every sound has been shaped to immerse the viewer in Madhu’s nightmarish journey.”
With a strong cast, layered storytelling, and spine-chilling visuals, ‘Khauf’ is expected to bring a fresh dimension to Indian horror when it premieres on April 18.
