Hyderabad, Apr 12: Former Australia captain Michael Clarke has expressed confidence that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) can make a turnaround in IPL 2025, despite a tough start to the season. SRH, led by Pat Cummins, have lost four consecutive games and sit at the bottom of the points table with just one win.
Clarke emphasized the need for someone from the SRH camp to step up and bat for a longer period to help the team move up the table. "Cummins and company are due, that's for sure. I can't believe Sunrisers Hyderabad are at the bottom of the table that's unbelievable. They’ve got a really good team," Clarke said.
The former captain urged SRH to focus on the upcoming game, putting the disappointment of their previous losses behind them. “They should be focused on just winning the next game. They’ve got a really good team and will continue with their aggressive approach. But if the moment calls for someone to steady the innings and bat a bit longer, hopefully someone will step up,” Clarke added.
SRH faces a crucial match against the in-form Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS), with Clarke believing that SRH's past success against PBKS could serve as a morale booster. The team boasts a strong 16-7 head-to-head record against PBKS and has won four out of their last five meetings.
At their home ground, SRH have been dominant against PBKS, losing only once out of nine encounters. This record, Clarke believes, will provide SRH with the confidence they need to turn their season around before it’s too late for a playoff qualification.
