Mumbai, Apr 14: Veteran actor Anupam Kher’s second directorial venture, Tanvi the Great, is set for a grand world premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, within the Marché du Film section.
Marking his return to direction after over two decades since Om Jai Jagdish (2002), Anupam called the film a story born from ‘deep passion and purpose’ with a universal theme meant to connect across cultures. "It’s a film from our hearts," he said, adding that it will resonate “just as deeply with audiences in Ahmedabad as it will in America.”
The film features music by Oscar-winning composer M M Keeravani, which Anupam praised as a “true blessing,” noting how Keeravani's artistry has elevated the film beyond his expectations.
Tanvi The Great will kick off a global tour after its Cannes debut, with screenings planned in London, New York, and Los Angeles. Anupam will personally introduce the film at Cannes, alongside the cast, crew, and several high-profile guests.
On April 11, the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) announced its partnership as co-producer of the film. Anupam welcomed the collaboration, saying it would further strengthen the film’s global journey.
NFDC, known for producing iconic Indian films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Mirch Masala, and Salaam Bombay, adds strong backing to Anupam Kher’s cinematic comeback as a director.
