Bengaluru, Apr 15: In a disturbing case of moral policing in Bengaluru, a young Muslim woman was harassed by a group of men in a public park for being in the company of a Hindu youth. The incident came to light after a video of the confrontation went viral on social media on Tuesday.

The two-minute video shows a group of men approaching the duo and confronting the woman for sitting with someone from another religion. One of the men, who appears to be recording the incident, aggressively demands that the woman remove her burqa, claiming she has brought shame upon their community.

The man can be heard saying, “If you want to behave like this, don’t wear the burqa,” and proceeds to demand, “Give me my burqa.” When the woman tries to leave with her friend, the group continues to follow and harass her.

Despite her repeated pleas to be left alone, the men continue to heckle her and insist that she state her name. “You go to hell, but take off the burqa first,” one of them says. The video also shows the woman trying to shield herself behind her friend as the group becomes more hostile.

According to police sources, the incident occurred under the limits of Chandra Layout police station. The woman was seated on a two-wheeler with her friend in front of a park when the group approached them and began questioning her presence.

Based on the young woman’s complaint, the Chandra Layout police arrested four individuals, including a minor. “The accused questioned her about her identity, her family, and why she was there. They also tried to intimidate her for speaking to someone from another faith,” said DCP (West) S Girish.

Police said the woman bravely stood up to the group, telling them that the man was her classmate and firmly refused to share her family’s contact information. Her family later filed a formal complaint.

The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many demanding strict action against those involved in the moral policing incident.

The police have confirmed that an investigation is underway and that they are verifying all aspects of the video and the statements of those involved.

“An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.” ― Mahatma Gandhi "Moral policing is not our responsibility. If her parents are not concerned, then why should anyone else interfere? The most you can do is just to inform her parents. There are legal systems in place, and her family—who gave birth to her, raised her, and educated her—can decide what's appropriate. She is not a minor, so she has the right to make her own choices. If someone genuinely wants to serve religion, there are far better causes—like helping those in need. Islam does not teach us to judge or enforce moral codes on others. Following someone else's lifestyle blindly, especially one that leads to hate or division, is not worth it. Let's focus on compassion, understanding, and real service to the community, rather than interfering in others’ personal lives." Ahmed, Bangalore, Be Mature and talk Mature.

When Hindutva outfits can attack Muslim youth with hindu girl, then why not Muslim youth do the same in the guide of protecting their daughter.. Bring in a complete law where neither Muslim man marry hindu girl not hindu boy marry muslim girl... Why one sided law?? We too don't want our sisters leaving Islam and accepting other faith...
