Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 16: The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to engineering and various other professional courses began on April 16 across Karnataka. A total of 22,525 students have registered for the exam in Dakshina Kannada (DK), while 8,089 students will appear for the test in Udupi.

A 200-metre radius around each exam centre has been declared a restricted area. Photocopying, computer, cyber, and printing shops are prohibited from operating within these zones. The use of electronic communication devices such as mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, pagers, etc., is also banned within the premises of the exam centres.

Both the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district administrations have directed MESCOM officials to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the two-day examination period on April 16 and 17.

Earlier, on April 15, the Kannada language exam was conducted at selected centres for students from border and non-Kannada-speaking regions.
