Baramulla, Apr 17: In a bid to empower the youth of North Kashmir, the district administration of Baramulla on Wednesday organised a Mega Job Fair at the Chinar Yuva Centre, drawing enthusiastic participation from hundreds of job seekers across the region.

The fair, aimed at creating direct engagement between recruiters and aspiring professionals, featured 28 renowned companies from sectors including hospitality, automobile, education, banking, and other services. Together, these organisations offered a total of 1,024 job vacancies, with several firms conducting on-the-spot interviews and even issuing provisional appointment letters during the event.

Officials said the initiative proved to be a productive platform, allowing companies to tap into local talent while offering the youth immediate career opportunities. In addition to private recruiters, government departments also took part by setting up stalls to raise awareness about livelihood and self-employment schemes such as MUMKIN, Tejaswini, PMEGP, Mission YUVA, and NRLM.

“These awareness stalls were crucial in motivating youth to explore entrepreneurship and government-backed initiatives for financial independence,” said an official associated with the event.

On the occasion, the MLA of Baramulla lauded the efforts of the administration, stating, “This initiative reflects our institutions’ growing commitment to youth empowerment. I commend the administration for providing this much-needed platform for our young generation.”

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, who also attended the fair, handed over appointment letters to two successful candidates, while interacting with job seekers and company representatives. Speaking to the media, he expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the fair’s outcome.

“Our goal is to empower Baramulla’s youth by linking them with meaningful job opportunities,” the DC said. “This fair is not just about recruitment—it’s about instilling confidence and encouraging skill development, career planning, and entrepreneurship, all supported by both the administration and the private sector.”

The successful execution of the job fair marks a promising step towards addressing unemployment in the region and nurturing a culture of skill-building and opportunity among the youth.
