Barkur, Apr 22: In a landmark moment for the sports scene in Barkur, the town is all set to host a national-level, floodlit cricket tournament, BMK Trophy-2025, from May 9 to May 11 at the Chauli Kere Ground, Barkur.
The tournament represents a significant milestone in Barkur's cricket history as it introduces a women’s cricket category for the very first time, reflecting a progressive leap in local sports culture.
The tournament, organized in memory of Krishna Mestri, will bring together top cricketing talent from across the country in a 90-yard format competition. The event is being hosted under the patronage of reputed sports organizations from Barkur, such as, Sri Veera Maruti Sports & Cultural Club (R) Barkur, Swastik Sports Club (R), R K Sports Club, N J C Friends, Barkur Sports & Cultural Club.
The BMK Trophy 2025 offers substantial cash prizes and trophies in both men's and women’s categories. Under men’s category, the winner will be rewarded with a cash prize Rs 2,02,222 and the runner-up with a cash prize of Rs 1,01,111 along with a trophy. Women’s category, the winner will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 1,01,111 along with the trophy, and runner-up with Rs 55,555 along with the trophy.
In addition, outstanding individual performances will be honoured with awards for best player of the series, best batsman, best bowler, and final match best player. A player of the match award will also be presented after every game throughout the tournament.
This groundbreaking sporting event has generated significant excitement among cricket enthusiasts in Barkur.
