Mancherial (Telangana), Oct 14: Turning three years of saving loose change into a prized possession, 51-year-old B Ravi Joseph, a church pastor from Luxettipet in Telangana's Mancherial district, has purchased a new Honda Activa worth Rs 1.23 lac using Rs 10 coins he painstakingly accumulated since October 2023.
Joseph began saving on October 10, 2023, setting aside every Rs 10 coin he received as change during routine purchases. What started as a small daily habit gradually grew into a substantial sum, eventually helping him fulfil his ambition of owning a new two-wheeler.

"For the past three years, out of my daily routine and grocery expenses—even when going out—wherever I went to the grocery shop, I managed to save some money little by little, saving approximately 1,23,000 rupees bit by bit," he said.
Joseph said he initially considered using the accumulated savings to purchase something useful for his household. He later decided, however, to put the money towards buying a two-wheeler.
His savings journey was not without challenges. Rumours that Rs 10 coins might be discontinued or lose their legal-tender status prompted some of his family members to discourage him from continuing to collect them.
"My family asked me not to continue, but I did not give up. I kept saving the coins, one transaction at a time," Joseph said.
Undeterred, he continued saving until the coins amounted to Rs 1.23 lac. When he finally took the accumulated money to a showroom to purchase the vehicle, the staff spent nearly two hours counting the coins before confirming the total.
The dealership was identified as Jagadamba Honda Motors in Luxettipet. Joseph was accompanied by family members when he received the new Honda Activa.
His unusual mode of payment attracted attention at the showroom and among local residents, turning what would ordinarily be everyday loose change into the full payment for a new vehicle.
Although he has now fulfilled his ambition of owning a new two-wheeler, Joseph expressed regret that financial constraints prevented him from purchasing his dream Royal Enfield Bullet.
His three-year effort has demonstrated how small, consistent savings can accumulate into a significant amount, enabling him to achieve a long-held goal one Rs 10 coin at a time.
