Mangaluru, Apr 22: Dakshina Kannada district Congress president Harish Kumar on Monday announced that the party will stage a massive protest rally in Mangaluru on April 26 against the central government over the hike in diesel and gas cylinder prices.

Speaking to media persons, he said that the rally will begin at Ambedkar Circle (Jyothi) and proceed to Clock Tower, followed by a public meeting. Congress leader Roji M John and district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao will participate in the protest event, he added.

“The BJP government at the Centre has been in power for 11 years, and during this time, it has implemented several anti-people policies. Diesel prices have consistently gone up, and now gas prices have also been hiked,” he said.

He further stated that despite launching multiple welfare guarantee schemes, the Congress-led Karnataka government has managed to maintain economic stability. “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has presented a budget worth several crores while ensuring financial discipline,” Harish Kumar added.
