Mumbai, Apr 23: Acclaimed actress Shweta Tripathi says she’s in the film industry not to chase fame or conform to expectations, but purely for her love of acting and her desire to collaborate with storytellers who share her vision for meaningful cinema.
In a candid chat with IANS, Shweta reflected on how she handles the pressure of working in an ever-evolving industry. “Honestly, I don’t take it,” she said. “I feel I’m here because I love acting. I love collaborating with people who are like-minded, who care deeply about the stories we tell, how we tell them, and why we tell them.”
Expressing gratitude for the people she has met along the way, she spoke about her upcoming film directed by Nikhil Mehrotra. “We had previously worked on a short film called Laghu Shankar. Please watch it whenever you get the time. He’s an amazing human being, and the film he’s written is just beautiful — and now he’ll be directing it.”
Keeping herself grounded, Shweta said she relies on “prayer, meditation, and good energy” to navigate her journey in cinema.
When asked about the most surprising aspect of her career, she shared, “I’ve received a lot of love. My co-actors have truly surprised me — such wonderful human beings. From Ali Fazal to my directors Siddharth Sengupta, Gurmeet Singh, Abhishek Sengupta… I’ve also worked with Aarti Kadav, Shlok Sharma — and honestly, the list is endless.”
More than just professional relationships, Shweta treasures the deeper connections she has formed. “I know I can just call and talk to them about anything — not just work, but about life and the world. What’s really bothering me right now is how we’re unknowingly destroying the world in our chase for convenience.”
She finds solace in the emotional support system she’s built in the industry. “They won’t think I’m crazy. I really value the kind of relationships I share with my co-actors, directors, and writers — they feel safe and nurturing.”
