Udupi: Three arrested with drugs worth Rs 50k in Manipal lodge raid

Udupi, Apr 23: Manipal police arrested three individuals in connection with the possession of narcotic substances worth Rs 50,500 during a raid conducted at The Down Town Lodge in Dasharatha Nagar on April 22.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Azharuddin from Kaup, Rajesh Prakash Jadhav from Pune, Maharashtra, and Nazil from Malpe.

The arrests were made after police received a tip-off regarding the possession of syringes used for consuming narcotics in room number 106 of the lodge. Acting on the information, the police raided the room and seized a quantity of drugs and other items.

The seized items include 13.70 grams of MDMA worth Rs 40,000, 225 grams of marijuana valued at Rs 10,500, 15 small plastic covers, five syringes, three 5ml bottles of sterile water, a keypad mobile phone worth Rs 500, and a touchscreen mobile phone worth Rs 5,000.

A case has been registered at the Manipal police station, and further investigation is underway.
