Chennai, Apr 25: In a much-anticipated moment for Malayalam cinema lovers, acclaimed actor Vijay Sethupathi unveiled the gripping trailer of Narivetta, an intense action drama directed by Anuraj Manohar and starring Tovino Thomas in the lead. The trailer has already started garnering attention for its bold theme rooted in real events and its powerful performances.
Taking to social media, Vijay Sethupathi extended his support to the team by posting, "Launching #Narivetta Trailer. Best wishes to the entire team of #NarivettaMovie!" The trailer immediately caught the public's eye for its raw depiction of social injustice and systemic oppression.
The film features an ensemble cast with Tovino Thomas, veteran actor-director Cheran, and National Award-winner Suraj Venjaramoodu, all portraying police officers navigating a volatile and morally complex situation. Cheran plays a senior Tamilian officer, while Tovino dons the role of a lower-ranked but emotionally driven cop.
The trailer opens with visuals of police forces dismantling makeshift huts in what they claim are encroachments on forest land. Despite calls for peaceful cooperation, scenes of brutality unfold, revealing a deeper power play. One disturbing moment shows a tribal man too afraid to speak out against police violence, showcasing the fear deeply rooted in marginalized communities.
As tensions rise, Narivetta reveals a tale far greater than a land dispute—it evolves into a rebellion. The police suspect Maoist involvement in the organized resistance, intensifying the crackdown. In the midst of this, Tovino’s character finds himself under scrutiny after a bullet from his rifle becomes part of a larger investigation.
