Kolkata, Apr 26: Ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders’ crucial IPL 2025 rematch against Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens on Saturday, all-rounder Moeen Ali has called for a more fearless and expressive batting display from his team.
Addressing the media in the pre-match press conference, Ali reflected on KKR’s recent batting woes that have contributed to back-to-back defeats, including a collapse against Punjab just two games ago.

“We have to go out there and express ourselves and just have a bit more fun,” Ali said. “It's about taking that pressure off, enjoying yourself, and showing your skills.”
Despite inconsistent performances, the veteran England star backed KKR’s batting strength, praising the blend of aggression and classical style in their lineup. “Sunil Narine is ultra-aggressive, while Ajinkya (Rahane) plays beautiful, classical shots and is in red-hot form,” he added.
Remaining hopeful of KKR’s playoff chances, Ali pointed to the league’s unpredictable nature. “Look at Mumbai, they started slow and now have won four or five in a row. Things can turn around quickly,” he said.
Reflecting on the earlier defeat to Punjab, where Yuzvendra Chahal rattled the batting order with four wickets, Ali admitted it was a tough game. “You never forget, but this tournament is full of tests. Tomorrow will be one,” he said.
Ali stressed the need for a bold mindset against Chahal this time. “You either fear he’ll destroy you again, or you take him on with confidence. Hopefully, we’ll do the latter,” he remarked.
