Mumbai, Apr 27: A major fire broke out early Sunday morning at the Kaiser-I-Hind building in Ballard Pier, which houses the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) Mumbai office, civic officials said.

According to the Mumbai Fire Department, the blaze, reported around 2:30 am, was escalated to a Level-II fire by 3:30 am, indicating a significant emergency. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.

A municipal authority informed that the fire was largely contained to the fourth floor of the five-storey structure, preventing further spread.

Emergency response teams swung into action swiftly, deploying eight fire engines, six jumbo water tankers, one aerial water tower, one breathing apparatus van, one rescue van, one quick response vehicle, and a 108 ambulance at the site.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, officials said, adding that cooling operations are underway.
