Texas, Apr 30: Houston Konkan Catholic Association (HKCA) held its Easter event celebration on April 26 at the Irene Stern Community Center in Fulshear, Texas.
Events director, Chris Pinto welcomed members and guests with a unique icebreaker that got everyone introducing themselves to each other while getting a chance to compete for an exciting prize.
Attendees then enjoyed delicious appetizers of lamb sheekh kebabs, chicken 65 and samosa chaat with tang and masala chai that started the evening on a great note.

The first item of the evening was the Easter Egg hunt. The children were led outdoors by Matt D’Souza and they had a wonderful time running around eagerly looking for the colorful Easter eggs filled with candies. The highlight of the egg hunt was finding a golden egg which was won by a very happy little girl.
Everyone was then invited to experience the magic of ‘Face painting with Jewels’. This was a tremendous success as many enthusiastic children and adults sat down with the Artist throughout the evening to have their faces or hands adorned with stunning designs studded with bling.
Emcee Errol D’Souza regaled the crowd with an entertaining monologue which had the audience in splits. This was followed by Chris Pinto challenging guests to a ‘Riddle Me’ Game which had participants scrambling to find answers and beat contestants to a finish to win a large basket filled with delicious goodies.
Next, president Leslie Mathias warmly welcomed members and guests to the event, and reiterated HKCA’s commitment to foster community spirit among Konkans and encouraged Members to actively participate in all events, as well as take on roles as future committee members.
The next event was a hilarious game of couples balancing balloons while holding one hand of the other person. The audience had a great time watching participants perform all sorts of acrobats to keep the balloons in the air to win the grand prize.
It was then time for a dance workshop conducted by professional artiste, Naomi Alphonso. She got the crowd energetically grooving to catchy hit songs while mastering the Samba, Bachata, Brazilian and Bollywood dance moves.
Throughout the evening, there were several Spot prize games which were won by many lucky winners.
It was then time for dinner. Thomas Suares led the gathering in a fervent prayer followed by ‘Grace before meals’ after which guests enjoyed a lavish dinner of chicken curry, veg kolhapuri, pasta, jeera rice, tandoori naan, as well as the coastal delicacy ‘Sorpotel’ accompanied by kheer and ice cream cups of different flavors.
Following Dinner, a raffle draw was conducted, with grand prizes handed out to several fortunate winners.
Attendees then tested their luck in the crowd favorite game of housie-housie conducted by Vineet Lasrado and Frank Saldanha.
The dance floor then came alive with guests dancing enthusiastically to the beat of DJ Chris Pinto’s wide selection of English and Bollywood music concluding with the traditional ‘Baila Blast,’ which ignited a burst of energy among the dancers.
The event concluded with a group photo and then each family was given a special Lindt chocolate gift box as they exited the venue.
HKCA extended its heartfelt gratitude to all the generous sponsors, participants, and supporters whose contributions made the evening truly memorable.
