Mangaluru, May 1: In a disturbing development following the recent mob lynching of a migrant laborer in Kudupu, another violent incident has been reported in the Bajpe area of city. On Thursday, May 1 evening, a young man was allegedly attacked and grievously injured by a group of individuals, raising concerns about escalating violence in the region.
The victim of attack, Suhas Shetty, the primary accused in a murder case three years ago and a rowdy sheeter, succumed to the injuries in a hospital, a release from the Mangaluru City police has stated.



The incident occurred when a group intercepted a fish lorry in the area and launched an attack near the Bajpe bus stand.
On May 1 at around 8:27 PM, an when Suhash Shetty, who was travelling in a vehicle (KA-12-MB-3731) along with Sanjay, Prajwal, Anvith, Latheesh, and Shashank, was intercepted by a group of assailants travelling in a Swift car and a pickup vehicle near Kinnipadavu Cross under the jurisdiction of Mangaluru City Police.
The assailants, numbering 5 to 6, attacked Suhash Shetty with deadly weapons, causing grievous injuries. He was immediately rushed to AJ Hospital, where he passed away to his injuries.
A case is being registered at Bajpe Police Station, and multiple teams have been formed to nab the accused at the earliest.
Shetty, a resident of Bajpe, is alleged to have orchestrated a murder three years ago. He was arrested along with several others and was out on bail at the time of the recent attack.
Suhas Shetty had 5 cases registered against him, 4 in Mangaluru city commissionarate and 1 in district police limits.
Authorities are investigating the attack in various angles including a possible retaliatory act linked to Shetty's earlier cases. Police have increased security in Bajpe and surrounding areas to prevent further incidents.
The incident follows the recent brutal mob lynching case in Kudupu causing concern among the public.
