Mumbai: Man loses hand in collision with BMC bus in Andheri

Mumbai, May 3: A 35-year-old man, Ismail Suratwala, suffered a severed left hand after his two-wheeler collided with a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)-run bus in Andheri on Friday morning, police said.

The accident occurred around 9:30 am when Suratwala, a resident of Mohammed Ali Road, exited a by-lane and collided with the rear side of the BEST bus as it moved through a traffic signal. Due to the impact, he fell, and his left hand was crushed under the bus’s rear wheel, leading to its amputation.

Suratwala was rushed to Holy Spirit Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The bus involved, which was operating under a west lease agreement from private contractors, has been seized and taken to the MIDC police station. Authorities are in the process of registering a case and continuing their investigation.
