Case filed against Beltangady MLA Harish Poonja for alleged communal hate speech

Beltangady, May 5: A case has been filed against Beltangady MLA Harish Poonja for allegedly delivering a defamatory and communally provocative hate speech against Muslims of the village during a religious gathering held at the Bhramakalashotsava event at Sri Gopalakrishna Temple in Tekkaru, Bhatrabailu.

The complaint was lodged at Uppinangady police station by local Muslim leader S M S Ibrahim Musliyar.

Following this, the police examined video footage of the MLA’s speech and registered a case against him.
