Sri Krishna Mantra Homa, Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti celebrated with devotion in Sion

Mumbai, May 5: The Gopalakrishna Public Trust, Gokul, Sion, in association with the BSKB Association, organised the Sri Krishna Mantra Homa and Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti celebration with great religious fervour on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

As part of the BSKB Association’s centenary celebrations, the Sri Krishna Mantra Homa was performed under the chief priesthood of Vedic scholars Daragudde Srinivas Bhat and Giridhar Udupa, and sponsored by Sucheta Shetty.

On the same day, the Jayanti Utsav of Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya was also celebrated with grandeur, jointly organised by the BSKB Association and Sri Subrahmanya Seva Sangha.

The religious rituals commenced with devata prarthana, punyaha vachanam, panchagavya, and ganahoma, led by Vedic scholars Durgaprasad Bhat and Subrahmanya Aithal. The programme further included Sri Rudra Homa, Rudrabhisheka, Sri Shankaracharya nama archane, special pujas, Ashtavadhana, and religious discourses.

The rituals were conducted with utmost devotion under the patronage of couples Raghupati & Yashoda Vailaya, Uday Shankar Rao & Anjana Rao, Venkataraj & Arun, and Sukumar Rao & Mallika Rao. Office-bearers of Sri Subrahmanya Seva Sangha including Subhashchandra Rao, P Umesh Rao, Shivaraya Rao, and K Umesh Rao actively participated, alongside the executive committee of Gopalakrishna Public Trust led by its president Dr Suresh S Rao.

As part of the Ashtavadhana service, Mohita Rao offered a vocal performance, while Vaishnavi Rao presented a classical dance. The Gokul Bhajana Mandali rendered bhajans and recited stotras composed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya.

The event concluded with Poornahuti of the homas, Mangalarati, distribution of teertha prasada, and a community lunch (prasada bhojana).
