Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj international airport to close both runways for 6 hours on May 8

Daijiworld Media Network- Mumbai

Mumbai, May 8: In a key development, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will suspend operations on both of its runways for a six-hour period today, May 8, to conduct annual pre-monsoon maintenance. The runways will remain closed from 11 am to 5 pm.

In a proactive move, CSMIA issued a 'notice to airmen' six months in advance, giving airlines ample time to revise their schedules accordingly. According to reports, the primary and secondary runways – 09/27 and 14/32 – will be non-operational during this maintenance window.

The maintenance work involves a thorough inspection of the runway surfaces for any signs of wear and tear, as well as taking preventive measures to tackle potential waterlogging issues. These measures are essential to ensure safe landings and take-offs, especially with the upcoming monsoon season.
