Bengaluru, May 8: A wave of shock and anger has swept through the Parappana Agrahara area following the discovery of an eight-year-old boy's murder.

The victim, Ramanand, was allegedly kidnapped and killed by his neighbour, 36-year-old Chandeshwar Matur, in a brutal act of revenge stemming from a minor disagreement with the boy's family. The horrifying crime came to light today, leading to the immediate arrest of the accused.

Accused Chandeshwar Matur

Police investigations revealed that Matur harboured a grudge against Ramanand's family. This animosity allegedly drove him to kidnap the young boy. Tragically, Ramanand's life was cut short, and his body was callously stuffed into a bag and disposed of in a lake.

Swift action by the police led to the recovery of the child's body from Rayasandra Lake on Wednesday and the subsequent apprehension of Matur. He is currently in custody and undergoing intense interrogation as authorities work to piece together the full sequence of events.

The Parappana Agrahara police have launched a comprehensive investigation into this deeply disturbing case. Charges of kidnapping, murder, and destruction of evidence have been filed against the accused, underscoring the gravity of the crime.

The local community has reacted with profound outrage and is demanding the strictest possible punishment for the perpetrator. As the investigation progresses, further details are anticipated to emerge.

DCP South East, Sarah Fathima, provided additional context, stating that both the victim's family and the accused hail from Bihar. The men in both families are employed as security guards, while the women work as cooks in nearby apartment complexes. Ramanand was reported missing on Wednesday morning, sparking the initial search.

This tragic incident in Bengaluru echoes a recent horrifying crime in Hubballi on April 13, where a five-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered by a migrant worker from Bihar. The accused in that case was later killed in a police encounter on April 14 after reportedly attacking the pursuing officers. These incidents have ignited concerns and discussions regarding the safety and security of children in the state.
