Operation Sindoor still active: IAF confirms mission not over despite ceasefire

New Delhi, May 11: Even as the recent military conflict between India and Pakistan shows signs of de-escalation following a mutual ceasefire, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has issued a crucial update—Operation Sindoor is far from over.

The IAF, in a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday, clarified that Operation Sindoor, which was launched in the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, remains in full swing. “The operation is being executed with precision, professionalism and a clear alignment with national objectives,” the IAF said.

The update from the Air Force comes in the wake of a high-level security review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and attended by defence minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar, CDS general Anil Chauhan, army chief general Upendra Dwivedi, IAF chief air chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, and navy chief admiral Dinesh K Tripathi.

Objectives achieved, but operation continues

The Indian Air Force affirmed that it has successfully achieved the key objectives entrusted to it under Operation Sindoor. “The strikes and manoeuvres were carried out in a deliberate and judicious manner, ensuring minimal collateral damage while targeting terrorist strongholds effectively,” the statement read.

However, the mission is not yet concluded. With multiple strategic and tactical components still underway, the IAF urged the public and media to avoid speculation and dissemination of unverified information.

Indian army also on high alert

Sources also confirmed that Operation Sindhu, launched simultaneously by the Indian Army, remains ongoing. A detailed official briefing is expected soon, once the operational phase reaches a key milestone.

In the current scenario, while diplomatic channels may have signalled a pause, India's security establishment remains on high operational alert, indicating that the post-attack response continues to be aggressive and unrelenting.
